VVI has received a lot of requests for printable graph paper. This page contains some sample graph paper types. Click the graph paper image below to download a printable PDF version to your computer. All paper is formatted at US letter (8.5 x 11 inches) size.

The graph paper on this page was made with Vvidget Builder, the powerful graph layout application included with Vvidget. If you need a particular style or layout of graph paper then you can use Vvidget Builder to make it, print it out or store it as a PDF.

The graph paper below has linear axes with tick label values that start at zero and increment by one. This graph paper is good for students that are graphing for the first time. The main reason for having labels is that it eliminates the variable between the graph scale and the data values. The subgrids are at 10th increments so that the concept of whole number v.s. fractional amounts is related on the graph.

The graph paper below is the same as above, except without tick labels. A person using the graph needs to first figure out what values to place at the tick marks and then place the data points on the graph. This presents an enigma for some students because they have to relate the data values to the graph, mark the labels on the graph and then place the data points on the graph. This is a so called inverse component of the problem and a lot of people have difficulty solving inverse problems. This is fine for people that already are familiar with this process, but for the uninitiated this can be a challenging proposition and graph with labels eliminates this issue.

The graph paper below has semi-log axes. On a linear axis, adding two values at grid lines places the result at a grid line. On a log scale that same property holds true, except using multiplication instead of addition. Because multiplication and addition (with their inverses) form the operators of an algebra (there is more than one), it is important that students in middle school become familiar with log graphs as soon as possible, in a prealgebra course perhaps.
